Brandon Gravois is a Louisiana author whose storytelling is deeply rooted in the culture, traditions, and folklore of South Louisiana. Raised around the unique blend of Cajun heritage, bayou life, music, food, and storytelling traditions that make Louisiana unlike anywhere else in the world, Brandon brings authentic Southern charm and imagination into every story he creates.
As a husband and father of two, Brandon believes stories have the power to bring families together and create lasting memories across generations. His writing focuses on imagination, adventure, humor, and meaningful life lessons while celebrating the heart and spirit of Louisiana culture.
Outside of writing, Brandon has spent nearly two decades serving in military leadership roles while also building a career in healthcare management and patient care. His experiences as a leader, healthcare professional, and family man all influence the themes found throughout his work: resilience, compassion, service, and community.
Brandon’s debut book, Crawfish Tales, was created from a desire to share the magic of Louisiana storytelling with readers of all ages. Through colorful characters and bayou-inspired adventures, he hopes to preserve the storytelling traditions of the South while inspiring imagination in a new generation of readers.
When he is not writing, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family, attending local festivals, and working on future books and creative projects inspired by the swamps, legends, and folklore of the Gulf South.
The Rich Tradition of Louisiana Storytelling
Louisiana has long been known as a place where stories come alive. From front porch tales and swamp legends to Cajun folklore passed down through generations, storytelling has always been part of the heartbeat of the region.
The unique mixture of Cajun, Creole, French, Spanish, African, Caribbean, and Native American influences helped shape a culture unlike anywhere else in America. Music, food, family traditions, and storytelling all became ways for communities to preserve their history and identity.
Many Louisiana stories were traditionally shared through spoken word. Often told around dinner tables, fishing camps, dance halls, and family gatherings. These stories often blended humor, mystery, faith, survival, folklore, and larger-than-life characters from the bayou.
Through books like Crawfish Tales, Brandon hopes to continue that tradition by creating modern Louisiana stories that honor the imagination, warmth, and spirit of Southern storytelling.
